A separate edition that integrates with Microsoft® Visual Studio® Team System is also available.

Intuitive and User Friendly

ReqSheet is exceptionally user friendly and does not require any formal training. The tool provides a simple user interface with familiar short-cut keys for standard productivity functions such as copy, cut, paste, undo, redo, find, replace, spell checking and save.

Document Based

Requirements are stored in ReqSheet documents, which can be emailed as attachments or shared using configuration management software such as Microsoft® Visual SourceSafe®. The tool does not use a database, and a network or internet connection is not required, making the tool ideal for engaging with customers off-site.

Requirements Reuse

Capture, organise and manage requirements in a hierarchical list using drag and drop. Requirements can be reused by simply copying a requirement and pasting as a cross-reference. Any changes to the original requirement are reflected in the cross-reference. Cross-references provide a good starting point for identifying object and code reuse during the design stage.

Methodology Flexibility

Document templates offer the flexibility to work with different requirements methodologies, such as the Use Case approach. Alternatively, requirements can simply be captured as a hierarchical 'shopping' or 'to-do' list with advanced change management functionality.

Review Status Tracking

Requirements are colour coded depending on their review status, making it easy to scan the document for new and modified requirements. Changing an 'Approved' requirement automatically changes the review status and colour to highlight that the requirement has been modified.

Review Comments

Conduct peer reviews and annotate requirements with review comments. Customers and other stakeholders can review and comment on requirements using the free ReqSheet Reviewer. 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons facilitate navigating between requirements with review comments, and document owners can mark review comments as accepted.

Track Changes

Control when changes are tracked and highlighted using the 'Track Changes' toggle. Changed requirements are highlighted in the requirements list, and 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons facilitate navigating between changed requirements. Compare changes using the quick 'before and after' view, or perform a more detailed analysis highlighting exactly which words have changed in context. Document owners can accept requirements changes or roll the changes back.

Exports, Data Synchronisation and Document Generation

Documents (such as Marketing Briefs, Product Briefs, Feature Plans, Vision Documents and Requirements Specifications) can be generated in Microsoft® Word® and HTML format. Data can be exported to Microsoft® Excel®, Microsoft® Project® and XML. Data within Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheets and Microsoft® Project® plans can be synchronised with ReqSheet documents.

Integration with stpsoft Storyboarding

ReqSheet documents can be imported to stpsoft Storyboarding (Standard Edition) and stpsoft Storyboarding (VSTS Edition) to visualise concepts and to transform business requirements in to well defined functional requirements. The import wizard lets the user specify which data to import based on the data verification method. System functions and concepts in the GUI storyboard can be linked to features and requirements in ReqSheet, and a traceability matrix can be generated to check for completeness, assess the impact of change and minimise scope creep.

System Requirements

MS WinXP Pro or MS Windows Server2003 or MS Windows Vista, MS Word 2003 or above, MS Excel 2003 or above (optional) and MS Project 2003 or above (optional). Integration with stpsoft Storyboarding v3.01.0100 or above (optional).
