Integration with IBM Rational RequisitePro®
A GUI storyboard is a step-by-step guide through
the screens and outputs of a proposed software
application. The primary purpose of a storyboard is to
validate that the users and the analysts have the same
understanding of the requirements. The users are able to
visualise the application before it is developed, and
therefore can provide useful feedback early on.
Requirements and design changes at this stage can be
made at minimum cost, thereby reducing the amount of
rework later on.
In order to storyboard effectively, the analyst
must be able to trace each step in the storyboard back
to the users functional requirements. Steps that cannot
be traced indicate scope creep, and functional
requirements that cannot be traced indicate unclear
requirements.
The Storyboarding Adapter for IBM Rational RequisitePro® imports
requirements from IBM Rational RequisitePro® in to
stpsoft Storyboarding.
The requirements can then be storyboarded and a
traceability matrix between the requirements and the GUI
storyboard can be produced.
Benefits
Maximise your investment in IBM Rational
RequisitePro®.
• Use GUI storyboarding to validate that all
stakeholders have a common understanding of the
requirements.
• Identify gaps and unclear requirements early.
Minimise scope creep by cross checking functionality against the
user requirements.

Requirements Traceability
Intuitive and User Friendly
The Storyboarding Adapter is presented as an easy to use
wizard. The wizard begins by asking the analyst to
select a RequisitePro® Project. The wizard then asks the
analyst which Packages within that project to import. On
clicking the Finish button, the wizard imports the
requirements into the Storyboarding Task List.

Requirements Traceability
All requirements are entered and controlled through
IBM Rational RequisitePro®. Typically the analyst will
only import the functional requirements packages to
stpsoft Storyboarding. The requirements are presented as read only
in stpsoft Storyboarding and
represent tasks that the analyst needs to storyboard. Comments or notes can be attached to the requirements.
Using stpsoft Storyboarding
the analyst can link the requirements to steps in the
storyboard. The requirements in the task list are
automatically ticked as they are linked to the
storyboard steps. A traceability matrix between the
requirements and storyboard can be generated in Microsoft
Excel®. The matrix can be used to check for completeness,
assess the impact of change and minimise scope creep.
