Storyboarding for
Telelogic DOORS®
allows a business analyst or analyst
developer to visually define and validate requirements
with business users through GUI
storyboarding. GUI storyboards help to bridge the
IT and business gap by enabling stakeholders to
visualise how an application will meet the
requirements, thereby revealing key issues and gaps early,
resulting in less rework. The tool seamlessly integrates with Telelogic DOORS®,
providing traceability between requirements and storyboards.
The tool saves hundreds of valuable man hours by generating screen flow diagrams,
HTML storyboards, reader friendly UI specifications and test scripts.
Benefits
According to an industry study, user interface prototyping
combined with JAD (joint application development) can keep
requirements creep below 5% compared to an industry average of 25%
(Jones, Capers. 1994. Assessment and Control of Software Risks).
• Maximise your investment in
Telelogic DOORS®. Use GUI and workflow storyboarding to
validate that all stakeholders have a common
understanding of the requirements. • Early
identification of gaps and unclear requirements helps to
minimise rework. • Standardisation improves quality with fewer errors
and omissions.
• Reader friendly documentation and storyboards help to bridge
the gap between the business and IT.
• Generation of specifications and test scripts improves team productivity. •
Minimal learning curve for users of Microsoft® Office
products.

Intuitive and User Friendly
The tool is based on Microsoft® Office and does not
require any formal training. The GUI storyboarding
functionality uses the Microsoft Visio® canvas and all
outputs are generated in Microsoft Word®, Microsoft Excel®
or HTML format. GUI storyboards can be built for most types of application including Windows, Web and Mobile.
Bespoke storyboarding stencils can be provided to simulate specific corporate user interface standards.
Telelogic DOORS® Integration
The tool seamlessly integrates with Telelogic DOORS® providing
traceability from requirements to each step in the
storyboard. Changes to requirements in Telelogic DOORS®
are highlighted in the tool, and a traceability matrix between the requirements and
storyboard can be generated in Microsoft Excel®. The matrix can be used to check for completeness,
assess the impact of change and minimise scope creep.
Storyboarding
User friendly GUI storyboarding for new applications or changes to existing applications and packaged software. GUI storyboards can be built for most types of application including Windows, Web and
mobile. Detail such as field attributes, rules and permissions can be
entered against each screen component. A screen flow
diagram can be built or generated to model the application flow. Changes to a storyboard can be made 'on the spot' with customers resulting in instant customer feedback.
Document Generation
UI specifications, functional specifications and test scripts can be
generated. The specifications are exceptionally reader
friendly, enabling business users to provide good quality feedback. The
specifications are especially ideal for outsourcing the development to an external company. The test scripts detail each component test that must be performed to establish whether the functionality within the software meets the
stated requirements.
View Storyboards in a Web Browser
Using a standard web browser the user can
navigate through each screen and process flow in the storyboard to validate the requirements. The
storyboard also provides developers with
a blueprint of exactly what the user wants.
