Storyboarding for Microsoft Visual Studio®
Team System allows a business analyst or analyst
developer to capture, define and validate requirements and
scenarios in a Team System project through GUI
and workflow storyboarding. Requirements can be optionally imported from
stpsoft ReqSheet for VSTS. The
tool seamlessly integrates with Team
System process templates and generates screen flow
diagrams, HTML storyboards, UI specifications,
functional specifications, Team System work items and
test scripts.

John Allwright, Visual Studio Product Manager, Microsoft UK
"stpsoft have successfully integrated stpBA Storyboarding into the VSTS platform and bring great benefit to both developers and businesses by ensuring that business requirements are faithfully realised in software being developed."
Architect, Avanade US
"One of the strong benefits of this tool is that the rich information captured to build the mock-ups can be used to generate a series of design and testing documents. This ability and the native integration with Microsoft Visual Studio Team System increases the value of the storyboarding effort."

Test Generation
Intuitive and User Friendly
The tool is based on Microsoft® Office and does not
require any formal training. The GUI storyboarding
functionality uses the Microsoft Visio® canvas and all
outputs are generated in Microsoft Word®, Microsoft Excel®
or HTML format.
Team System Process Integration
The tool seamlessly integrates with
Team System process templates, providing full work item tracking for project
management. Users can publish outputs to the project portal
on Microsoft SharePoint®. The tool is preconfigured
for the MSF for Agile software development process. MSF for Agile is an adaptive scenario-driven software development process, and is configured as the default process template for Team System projects. Further information on Microsoft® Visual Studio®
Team System and MSF for Agile is available
at the Microsoft®
Team System site.
On-line Collaboration and Off-line Working
Team members can collaborate on-line through a shared
Visio document workspace. The tool also supports
off-line working, making it ideal for consultancy
engagements at client sites.
Storyboard Scenarios
Scenarios can broken down into hierarchical steps and
documented. GUI storyboards can be built in order to further
elaborate and validate the scenarios. A screen flow
diagram can built or generated to show the scenario
flows, and a traceability matrix can be produced to
ensure that each scenario step is covered in the storyboard.
Business users can navigate through the GUI storyboards
using a standard web browser.
Work Item Generation
Work items are generated for each screen in the
storyboard and can be assigned to developers for design
or coding tasks. A specification is attached to each
work item. The specification documents the particular
screen that the work item relates to. This includes
scenario details, a screen shot, functionality overview,
components details and business rules. Changes to the
storyboard can be propagated to the work items, with the
changes highlighted in the work item specification
document.
Test Generation
Tests scripts are generated in Microsoft Excel®
spreadsheet format. The test scripts detail each
component test that must be performed to establish
whether the functionality within the software meets the
user requirements. [In a future release of the product,
the user will be able to generate UI functionality and
behaviour tests as Team System manual tests.]
System Requirements
